POSITION SUMMARY: ITT Exelis, Mission Systems is looking for a seasoned labor and employment lawyer to support its business activities throughout the world. The position will be based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The primary responsibilities of this position are to: contribute value as a member of the Legal Department; provide effective legal advice, counsel, and advocacy to ITT Exelis, Mission Systems business and functional areas; support ITT Exelis, Mission Systems? and Exelis Inc?s strategic and tactical legal and compliance initiatives; provide effective advice on legal considerations of ITT Exelis, Mission Systems? business strategies and their implementation; and provide support to the ITT Exelis, Mission Systems? General Counsel as required. The Associate General Counsel will be directly involved in domestic and international employment and labor relations matters and litigation. Must be willing to travel to overseas locations including, but not limited to, Europe and the Middle East. MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: 1. Active support of and advice on labor and employment issues for all types of government contracts, the company?s Compliance Program, and compliance with applicable foreign labor and business laws and other business matters. (75%) 2. Performs other duties and assignments as require, including, but not limited to: (25%) ? Implement standards for effective legal and contract strategy. ? Conduct legal investigations relating to human resources matters. ? Manage and/or assist with management of litigation and outside counsel in coordination with the General Counsel, ITT Exelis, Mission Systems. ? Provide legal support on business formation, joint ventures, environmental and other projects. ? Interpret and disseminate information on proposed or actual legislation and regulations, with emphasis on labor and employment law. ? Provide legal training to business leaders and professionals on employment and labor law topics. MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED: Personal computer, printer, copy machine and other general office equipment. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Works in a general office environment. Domestic and overseas travel is required. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Physical requirements include lifting, climbing, extended sitting or standing, or other physical efforts that are normally required. Must be able to travel to austere environments. Must be able to work extended hours, as required. Ability to access and perform work on U.S. military facilities, both in the U.S. and abroad is required.
